Color Prism Transparent

History

The My Community Bristol project started in 2022.

MENCAP ran the project in 9 areas across the country.

SENDaWelcome has run the project in Bristol since July 2024.

Our Action Group leads the way on all our work.

We talked to over 600 people with lived experience.

We asked what they wanted to change.

We made a list of

important things to do:

  1. Help people to feel safe in their local area.

  2. Support businesses to make information easy to understand.

  3. Campaign for better transport for everyone.

  4. Develop low-cost inclusive activities so people can make friends.

  5. Make work opportunities inclusive and accessible.

  6. Raise awareness of disability discrimination.

Inclusion is important for everyone. So, we work together with everyone to raise awareness of disability for a better future.

What we are doing now

We are planning more inclusive events.

We are offering a consultation service to share our lived experience.

We support businesses and local organisations to become more inclusive.

We will continue to develop inclusive work opportunities.

We provide information in easy read.

We campaign for equity.

We celebrate examples of positive inclusion; you can read our recent success stories here.
