New Sensory Features Added to SENDaWelcome's Sensory Garden and Trail

Visitors to SENDaWelcome's Sensory Garden and Sensory Trail at The Ardagh Community Trust now have even more exciting ways to play, explore and engage with nature thanks to the addition of three fantastic new sensory features.

A brand new Giant KerPlunk and Sensory Mirror have been created by talented people with learning disabilities from Splinters, showcasing their creativity, craftsmanship and skills. These unique pieces have been specially designed to encourage inclusive play, exploration and social interaction for visitors of all ages and abilities.

The Giant KerPlunk offers a fun, hands-on activity that encourages teamwork, communication and problem-solving, while the Sensory Mirror invites visitors to explore reflections, movement and self-expression in an engaging and interactive way.

As part of the growing Sensory Trail, beautiful tactile birds have also been added to a painted tree beside the bowling green. Visitors are encouraged to stop, touch and discover the different textures, helping to create a rich sensory experience while celebrating local wildlife and creativity.

These new additions reflect SENDaWelcome's commitment to creating inclusive community spaces where everyone can play, learn and belong. The sensory garden continues to grow thanks to the creativity and collaboration of local people, community groups and volunteers.

A special thank you goes to everyone at Splinters for creating these wonderful new features. Their work has not only enhanced the sensory garden but has also left a lasting legacy that will be enjoyed by children, young people, families and the wider community for years to come.

We hope you'll come along to The Ardagh, explore the Sensory Garden and Trail, have a go at our Giant KerPlunk, discover the tactile birds and experience all the sensory adventures waiting to be found!
